Written by Shreemad Amitgati Acharya (in the 11th century AD) for the purpose of experiencing the soul's pure nature, by which happiness is attained. The tool for experiencing the soul is "upyog" (hence the name Yog...). To experience the soul, the distinctive characteristics of: the living (jiv) and non-living (ajiv) substances, nature of aasrav (including false belief), bandh (including difference between knowledge and experience), sanvar (samvar), nirjara, moksh are described, in addition to: - the independence of every substance, - essential true conduct (which can only exist where true knowledge and belief exist), - true natures of happiness and miseries. This shastra has 540 Gathas (verses) arranged in 9 Adhikaars (chapters).
