Even before his enlightenment the Buddha was teaching and much of these early lectures have not been documented thoroughly in later biographies. Maybe because the post-enlightenment teachings have been emphasized. But Buddha himself would often in his encounters with others refer to his own practice before his Awakening, and his life shortly thereafter.
